Vic Warden – sad news

It is with deep sadness to inform you of the recent passing of Vic Warden, one of our Vice Presidents at Margate Lawn Tennis Club and for many years he was the club’s chairman.

Vic joined the tennis club back in 1952 and in that year was part of the victorious Men’s team winning the club’s first Kent League trophy.  Over the years Vic featured in many of the team matches and in 2002 was selected to play in the Over 70’s Kent County team. Tennis was not only a big part of his life but his family life too playing with his wife, Brenda, son Mark and daughter Michelle.  Vic also taught his granddaughters Jo and Carla to play – he always used to say he would get them a Mars Bar from the club house if they managed to hit him at the net whilst doing volley practice.  They never managed it.

Due to Covid 19 restrictions Nikky Warden, Vic’s daughter, has asked me to share the weblink for those who would like to attend albeit virtually.  Please find below the information about Vic’s funeral on Friday, 9th April 2021 at 11.30.  You will be able to log in a couple of minutes before the service starts and will be available for 7 days.
